Diverse Flavours launched two new line extensions for 88 Vineyards – the Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and Rosé (Pinotage) 2022.

88 Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc

The 88 Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc 2022 has bright tropical fruit flavours, crisp acidity and subtle minerality.

The vineyards are found in a variation in meso-climates, exposed hills and sheltered valleys, with soils from Granite, sandstone soils and sandy soils. Grapes are picked from a selection of these different wards in the Western Cape.

Harvesting occurred at optimal ripeness when the grapes were between 21 – 22° Balling. Picking was done in the early morning hours to ensure the grapes arrived cool at the cellar.

Skin contact was given for two hours and thereafter the free run juice was separated from the press juice. Reductive winemaking practises were followed to retain as much flavour and complexity in the wine as possible.

88 Vineyards Rosé

88 Vineyards Rosé has hints of strawberry, cherries and tropical notes; with a crisp acidity and a fresh finish.

The vineyards are found in a variation in meso-climates, exposed hills, and sheltered valleys, with soils from Granite, sandstone soils and sandy soils. Grapes are picked from a selection of these different wards in the Western Cape.

Cold skin maceration was carried out for six hours, the free run juice was then fermented in stainless steel tanks for two weeks at 12°C. The wine was left on the gross lees where batonage was applied for a week. The wine was thereafter racked and left on the lees.
